Crested Butte 4th of July on Elk Avenue
Elk Avenue is the place to be during your Crested Butte 4th of July! Hosted by the CB Chamber of Commerce, this day of festivities starts bright and early with a pancake breakfast at the Crested Butte Fire and EMS Department from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Once the breakfast is over, food vendors will be open for business along Elk Avenue and 3rd Street. A parade begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by a kids’ carnival at noon. The rest of the day is filled with fun, outdoor concerts and concludes with a spectacular fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. at the base area of the Crested Butte Mountain Resort. These activities are completely free of charge, making it an excellent event for families to attend!
4th of July Celebration on the Mountain
The Crested Butte Mountain Resort also offers its own contributions to combine with the events hosted by the CB Chamber of Commerce. During this day only, they offer extended hours until 7:00 p.m. for their Adventure Park. They also will have a BBQ chicken dinner at 6:00 p.m. as well as a photo booth to commemorate this holiday!
The Annual Gothic to Crested Butte 1/3 Marathon
This exciting, scenic annual race is a 1/3 marathon, held on the 4th of July, that takes participants from the town of Gothic into the heart of Crested Butte, finishing on Elk Avenue. This race, in its 49th year as of 2017, benefits the Rocky Mountain Research Laboratory, an organization that supports biological and ecological scientific research in Gothic and the surrounding area. Interested runners can register for the race up to the day before the event.
